When I was a student in the TTP program, I was exposed to web development by learning about HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for the first time. I made API calls for the first time and got some practice with GIT in a team setting. This was all during the bootcamp. In my TTP internship with Neuromatters, their projects were in C# using Unity3d and C++. I was encouraged through TTP to attend the NSBE Conference and I landed an internship with Visa where I was asked to create a web app. A year later I became a Teacher Assistant for TTP. I passed on my knowledge of basic web dev and I learned along with everyone. Frameworks like React and Databases like Postgres. Currently I'm working at JP Morgan and I write Angular, Java backed, and query a Salesforce DB. So TTP helped me build a foundation to web dev and I refined my skills as time went on.
CUNY 2X TTP was very important to me. It helped me develop my career. It provided me with an invaluable Bootcamp and internship experience in the Summer TTP program. This was essential to my confidence and with helping me market myself to future employers. They also have amazing events to prepare Lehman students for the interview processes, creating your resume, cover letter, and networking with other students and professionals from the tech industry. Overall, I’m glad I was a part of a program like CUNY 2X TTP at Lehman College. I can confidently say because of TTP, I can confidently say because of TTP, I was able to land a full-time job at Northrop Grumman right before graduation.
Lehman’s CUNY 2X TTP program has given me the opportunity to start my career in tech. Through their boot camp I was able to realize the importance of developing my technical and communication skills by consistently working on personal and group projects. I was able to find my passion for web development and problem solving since the amount of work given required dedication and persistence. I connected with great people who were more than happy to help and we pushed one another to continue to work hard. After completing my TTP internship I landed two more internships after that. One of those internships was at IBM and I had an amazing experience. Lehman’s TTP program created a great environment and opportunities that have been beneficial to developing my career and I hope other students take advantage of it as much as I did. After graduation this Spring I will be starting a full-time job at IBM!
“Strengths that I found in the bootcamp were the amount of projects. We did a lot of projects which allowed me to have more projects on Github."
“I do believe that the TTP Residency was helpful. I gained knowledge in the computer science field that I would not have received if I was not in the program. I was able to create various sophisticated projects that I will be able to showcase to future potential employers.”
“I'm happy to have been a part of it. I definitely came out of this month a level above where I was prior to entering.”
